First verse for memory work- Colossians 3:12- Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. What is Missional? Part 3

This is the last installment of our discussion about What does Missional Mean?  Last month we saw that Jesus commanded his disciples (and by extension all Christians) to go in to all the world and make disciples, teaching them to obey everything that Jesus commanded.  We saw that the summary of that teaching is Jesus is King, and Life is Different in the Kingdom. It is important to understand the entire context of the Gospels- Jesus came as the King, showed us what his reign is like, and then was wrongly executed because he claimed to be King.  Yet this happened so ...

What is Missional? Part 2

Pastor’s Post: What is “Missional”?

(By Jake Porter) I would like to take a minute to talk to you about a current Christian-lingo buzz word; “Missional”.  Some of you might have never heard of this before, and others of you might be thoroughly versed in what it means.  In seminary we had an entire fourteen week class entitled Gospel, Culture, Church that explored what it means for the Church to BE missional.  The single sentence answer to “What does Missional mean?” is to say “Being on the Mission of Jesus.”  The next question that naturally follows is “What is the Mission of Jesus?”  ...
