OUR CHURCH FAMILY

Congratulations to Matt & Jill Vander Bok on the birth of a baby girl, Keagan Jean Vander Bok born on July 23.  We give thanks to God for this precious gift to the Vander Bok family and to our church family

Celebrations:  Ken Laninga will celebrate his 84th birthday on August 1.  Willis & Norma Klingenberg are celebrating their 66th wedding anniversary today.  We give thanks to God for these blessings that he gives to us.

Thank you to the many volunteers who helped this past week at Vacation Bible School and to those who donated items.  Many children enjoyed learing about God’s creation.

OUR CHURCH ANNOUNCEMENTS

 Morning Worship Service will be led by Mr. Scott Van Voorst who is serving as an intern at Graafschap Christian Reformed Church through the Renewal Lab program.

Ministry Appreciation this morning will be given to Jake Porter who has served as our youth director for the past two years.   Following the service, refreshments will be served in the fellowship hall.

Community Evening Worship Service will be led by the West Michigan Teen Challenge along with their director Rev. Phil McClain.  Join us for this time of praise and testimonies.

Service ~ Next Sunday, August 3, Rev. Ron De Young will lead us in worship.  We will also celebrate the sacrament of Communion.  A thank offering will be received for World Renew.

Community Service ~ For the month of August the evening Community Worship services will be held at Hamiton Reformed Church.  Next Sunday, August 3, Dr. Habeeb Awad will speak on the Conflict of Israel and Palestine.

August 10:           Cloud of Witnesses ~ Testimonies of brothers and sisters from Hamilton who have   experienced the power and grace of God at work in their lives.

August 17:    Our Faith and Science ~ Dr. Mary Beth Anderson, Professor of Chemistry at Hope College,  will share how science has deepened her faith and understanding of God’s glory and majesty.

August 31:           Labor Day Outdoor Service at Diamond Springs Wesleyan Church ~ Rev. Mark Inman

Ladies Guild Bible Study will meet on Tuesday, August 5 at 10:30 am at the home of Naomi Olson for a  social   time and to look over study material for the coming year.  Please rsvp at 751.7174.  All ladies are  welcome to join us as we look forward to a new season of study God’s word together.

Sunday School will soon begin and we will be needing teachers and helpers for this church ministry.  If you are interested in helping contact Dawn Driesenga or Sandy Lemmen.

Cookies are needed for Sunday morning fellowship time.  Sign-up in the fellowship hall for the Sunday that    you can donate home-made or store-bought cookies.  (please avoid cookies with peanut butter, tree     nuts and peanuts.)

Ministry ~ Continue to save your Spartan UPC for the church library.  The UPC labels can be placed in the  canister in the library.  Also your empty beverage containers can be placed in the barrel in the narthex or the GATE Ministry.

Maranatha CRC Sr. Group invites you to join them on a bus trip to Shipshewana on September 19.  The trip  includes seeing the musical Josiah for President and a meal at the Blue Gate Restaurant.  Cost is $65.00.               To reserve your spot and for more information call Bev at 616.772.1947.

Lakeshore Little People’s Place invites you to a Community Open House to tour their new building in Hamilton on Tuesday, July 29 from 3 – 7 pm.  Programs being offered are Christian childcare and preschool for children ages 6 weeks – 5th grade.  The site is located at 3362 M-40 next to the Trestle Stop.  For more information about the site, visit the web at llpp.org or call 616.399.9149.

Backpack Ministry ~ Love INC is collecting donations of school supplies through August 22.  Donations of  can be brought to the Love INC office in Hamilton.   Supplies needed are:  backpacks (generic color, no  character or wheels); pencils, erasers; markers; colored pencils; glue sticks; scissors; crayons, 2-pocket  folders; wide-ruled paper; loose-leaf paper; 3-ring binders; blue, black and red pens; yellow   highlighters; rulers; protractor and graph paper.  Your donations for this ministry are appreciated.

Booths for Youths are looking for artists, crafters and home-based businesses to be part of the Craft Fair on     Saturday, October 18 at the Hamilton Middle School.  Booths are a 10×10 space.  For additional    information and questions email haven-bfy@hotmail.com or call Haven Reformed Church at 751.7321.

Hungry for Christ will be having a Car Show and Open House on Saturday, August 9, 12 noon – 3pm at their  facility (3871 – 144th Avenue, Hamilton).  Come and enjoy free food, tours of the facility, live music along with fire trucks and face painting for the kids.

Gracias Honduras Mission Report will be given on Sunday, August 10 at 5 pm at the Overisel Reformed Church.  The service of worship will be led by the members who went to Gracias in July.  We realize many of you sponsor children in Gracias and may be interested in seeing what God is doing through World Vision and your prayers to build strong families and communities in Honduras.  All are invited!

World Renew responds to Michigan Tornado ~ A July tornado in Kentwood and Wyoming, Michigan has  left vulnerable homeowners in need of assistance beyond initial clean-up efforts.  World Renew Disaster                 Response Services plans to help those in need recover, including home repair and reconstruction  services.  If you feel led to donate, mark your donation “Michigan Tornado 2014” and mail to World Renew DRS, 1700 – 28th Street Grand Rapids, MI  49508.  Continue to keep World Renew in prayer as  they help in various states with recovery efforts from natural disasters.
