OUR CHURCH FAMILY

Mark Driesenga will be leaving for South Korea tomorrow until September 12.   During his time in South Korea, Mark will be leading music and worship at four churches and spending time at a prayer conference.  Mark asks us to pray for his singing and playing and for the strength he needs.

Tom Tucker and Zena Walters were able to come home following hospital stays.  Remember them in prayer for healing Tom’s leg infection and Zena as she recovers from surgery.

We extend sympathy to Garry & Marian Nyboer and the extended Nyboer family in the death of a brother and uncle, Jun Nyboer  who was called to heaven on Thursday.

OUR CHURCH ANNOUNCEMENTS

 Morning Service ~ This morning Pastor Jake will lead us in worship in the series of Stories of our Childhood on Moses.  Following the service join us for a time of fellowship; coffee, juice and cookies are available in the fellowship hall.

 Tonight at 6:30 pm we will be worshiping at Diamond Springs Wesleyan Church for an outdoor service (weather permitting).  Adrian & Sharon Van Houten will lead this time of praise and worship.   Bring lawn chairs and join for this service.

Small Group Bible Study will meet on Tuesday, September 6 at 7 pm at the Royal Park Atrium.  Our lesson is on pages 75 and 76, Lesson 7, Episode 1.

Sunday School for Pre-K – 12th grade will begin next Sunday, September 11.

Fellowship Nights will be held for the church season on the second and fourth Wednesday evening of each month.  Our first Fellowship Night will be held on September 14 and will be a hamburger and hot dog grill night.

 Newsletter ~ The September Observer newsletter is available in your church mailbox.

Cadets ~ We will be having our Cadet Kick-off on Wednesday, September 7.  We will meet at the clubhouse at 6:30 pm.  All boys in grades 1st – 8th are invited to be part of this program.

Evening Worship Services for September 11, 18 and 25 will be held at Hamilton Reformed Church.  The ervices will begin at 6 pm.  Join us as we worship with this church family.  Our church will be hosting the evening services for the month of October.

Building Project Offering ~ In an effort to reach our matching building project goal of $20,000, we will have a special second offering on September 18, 25 and October 2.

Ladies Guild Bible Study will begin their autumn study session on Tuesday, September 20 at 10 am at the church Fellowship Hall.  This will be a seven session study titled “Jesus, His Powerful Life” and will conclude on December 20.  Guild members will find the new study books and the autumn calendar in their mailboxes.  All ladies of all ages are invited and most welcome to join us in fellowship and learning.  We meet the first and third Tuesday of the month at 10 am.  There is no preparation required.  If you need a study book, contact Lori at the church office at 751.8877 for details.

Cookies are always needed for Sunday morning fellowship time.  If you would like to donate home-made or store-bought cookies just place them in the church kitchen by Sunday morning and label them “Sunday fellowship”.  Cookies should not contain peanut butter or any type of nuts.

Coping With Loss, lead by Chris Gillett, Grief Support Coordinator for Wings of Hope Hospice, is held the first Wednesday of each month at Hamilton Reformed Church from 10 – 11:30 am.  There is no charge for this open-ended, on-going group, so no registration is necessary.  The next meeting will be September 7.  For more information call Hamilton Reformed Church at 751.5145.

Living Proof a Beth Moore Simulcast will be held at Community Church of Douglas on Saturday, September 17 from 10 am – 5:15 pm.  Tickets are $15 which includes lunch.  For tickets call the church office at 269.857.1492.   This simulcast will also be held at Community Reformed Church in Zeeland on Saturday, September 17, 10:15 am – 5:15 pm.  Worship will be led by Travis Cottrell.  Cost is $20 and includes lunch or $15 without lunch.  For more information and for tickets go to www.communityreformed.org or stop by Community Reformed Church.

Learn to Witness!  Do you want to know how to share Christ with others?  Join us for a free Wordless Book training at the Haven Reformed Church (4691 Oak St., Hamilton) in the Heritage Room.  We will meet on Wednesday, September 28 from 6:30 – 8:30 pm.  This class (for 12-year-olds and up) will be taught by Bobbie Vote from Child Evangelism Fellowship, but the emphasis is on leading all ages to Christ!  You will learn how to witness, what verse to use, and have a chance to practice that night.  Bring your Bible and a friend and please come!  For questions, call Bobbie at 269.673.6899.  RSVP to Haven Church at 269.751.7321, space will be made available even if you are unable to RSVP.

Christian Reformed Conference Grounds will close out their summer season with a travelogue by Don Van Polen sharing, A World of Travel: Favorite Stories and Places on Monday, September 5.  The travelogue will begin at 7 pm in the new worship center.  Come early and enjoy a traditional Roast Beef Dinner, served in the Sunshine Room.  On Saturday, September 10 the Conference Grounds will be hosting The King’s Choraliers in concert at 7 pm.  The dinner for this night will be Baked Tilapia and Beef Stew.  No tickets are needed for either of these events however a free-will offering will be taken.  Everyone is welcome to these great nights.

The Bible League Volunteers are hosting the Tribute Quartet on Thursday, September 8 at 7 pm at Friendship Christian Reformed Church in Byron Center.  Everyone, any age will enjoy the fun and encouragement this men’s quartet gives from the stage.  This quartet has had many chart-topping songs to which they attribute the favor of God.  There will be an offering to provide Bibles to Africa.  This is an evening you will want to attend.

Love INC Thank You ~ For our youth and children, we say “thank you” to the many donors and volunteers who supported the Backpack Ministry this year!  You exceeded our hopes and dreams through your work and generous hearts.  All over our county students will be able to begin school with needed supplies and beautiful backpacks!  In total you helped provide 530 backpacks that were distributed in Allegan, Hamilton and Pullman.  Thanks to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Allegan for their support in hosting the Hamilton / Allegan distribution and thanks to Pullman Ridge Point for assisting with the distribution in Pullman.  You are all a loving and generous Body of Christ to work with!      With Gratitude, Char Van Beek.
