Ken Laninga was transferred to Heritage Nursing & Rehabilitation Center (320 E. Central Avenue – Zeeland) to gain strength and rehabilitation. 

OUR CHURCH ANNOUNCEMENTS

 Morning Service ~ This morning Missionary Ruth Lemmen will lead us in worship.

Sunday School will meet this morning.  PreK – 5th grade will be dismissed during worship time to the Worship Center; Middle and High School will meet in the Youth Room following the morning worship.  Classes will not meet Sunday, October 2.

Church Potluck will be held today at 12 noon in the fellowship hall.  Bring a dish to share; table service and beverage will be provided.

Evening Worship will be held tonight at 6 pm at Hamilton Reformed Church.  Mr. Ron Lugten, ministry assistant at Hamilton Reformed, will lead the worship time.  Our church will be hosting the evening services for the month of October.

Worldwide Communion will be celebrated next Sunday, October 2.  We will join together for this celebration with all Christians around the world.  A thank offering will be received for Faith Promise Mission Support.

Faith Promise Mission Pledge Cards are available in your church mailbox.  Our missionaries depend on financial support from churches and individuals.  Consider this week your commitment for the next year to our missionaries.  The pledge cards will be collected next Sunday during the offering.

 Building Project Offering ~ A special offering will be taken this morning and next week for our Building Project Fund.  We are $5,300 short of our challenge amount of $20,000 and we have until next Sunday, October 2 to meet this challenge.  Prayerful consider how you can help meet this goal.

Newsletter ~ Information for the October church newsletter is due today and may be placed in the newsletter box in the narthex.

Church Potluck will be held today at 12 noon in the church fellowship hall.  Bring a dish to share and come enjoy a lunch with your church family.

Fellowship Night will be Wednesday, September 28 from 5:30 – 6:30 pm.  We will be having our Wild Game Potluck.   Bring a dish to enter one of the four categories ( 1- Sea; 2 – Air; 3 – Untraditional; 4 – Four Legs) – salad and dessert will be provided.  Prizes will be awarded for the best “wild” dish.  Our next Fellowship Night will be held on October 12.

Ladies Guild Bible Study will meet on Tuesday, October 4 at 10 am in the church fellowship hall.  We will discuss lesson 2 – Preparation, from our study book, “Jesus His Powerful Life”.  All ladies are invited to join in this Bible study.  If you need a study book, contact the church office.

Community Series ~ Next Sunday we will begin with area churches in a community series with the theme of Rival and be examining together the book of Nehemiah.  We will be looking at how the story of this man of God encouraged and led the people of Israel through a time of renewal and revival at a time when they as a community were vulnerable and tired of rebuilding after their return from exile. We will be exploring our own need for God’s Spirit to breath fresh life into us both individually and corporately so that we may be faithful followers of Jesus Christ.  On October 16 there will be a community pulpit exchange, Rev. Chris Timmer of Dunningville Reformed Church will lead us in worship. We will not be having a community service this year.

Youth Dinner & Auction will be held on Wednesday, October 26 in the church fellowship hall.  The dinner will be available from 5:30 – 6:30 pm.  The auction will begin at 6:30.  If you have any items to donate for the auction please contact Zena Walters.  Items of gift cards, services, craft items, baked goods, canned goods, etc. are needed for the auction.  The High School Youth Group is working towards their mission trip to New York in 2017.

Dunningville Reformed Church invites you to their 2016 Harvest Festival on Saturday, October 8 in their fellowship hall.  Join us for an evening of food, fun and fellowship.  Dinner is served from 5 pm – 6:30 pm and offers homemade soups, barbecues, hot dogs and wonderful homemade pies.  The auction begins at 6:30 pm and includes many crafts, handiwork items, produce, baked goods and many more items to bid on.  Come out for a fun evening.

Hamilton Flu Clinic will be available on Tuesday, September 27 from 5 – 7 pm at the Overisel Fire Station (142nd Avenue) and Wednesday, September 28 from 11 am – 1 pm at the Bentheim Fire Station (38th Street).  The vaccine cost $17.99 and is free with most major insurances (Blue Cross, Priority Health, Medicare Part B, etc.)  Bring your insurance card.  Anyone ages 4 and up are able to receive the flu shot.

Share Christ With Others ~ Join a free Wordless Book training at Haven Reformed Church (4691 Oak Street – Hamilton) in the Heritage Room on Wednesday, September 28 from 6:30 – 8:30 pm.  The class (for 12-year-olds and up) will be taught by Bobbie Vote from Child Evangelism Fellowship, but the emphasis is on leading all ages to Christ.  You will learn how to witness, what verses to use and have a chance to practice that night.  Bring your Bible and a friend.  For questions call Bobbie at 269.673.6899.

Bethany Christian Services is hosting a community event to discuss the needs of children in Allegan County in foster care.  Please come to the Griswold Auditorium on September 27 from 6:30 – 8 pm.  Barry Lucas from Love INC will be speaking about his experiences with adoption and how the community needs to be involved in helping these children.

Grant Me Hope, a non-profit ministry to find older foster children adoptive homes is having a huge fundraiser on Saturday, October 1 from 3 – 7 pm.  There will be a truck show, carnival games with prizes, pig roast and hot dogs and Dutch Village has donated their facility with rides, petting zoo, Dutch dance performances for this event.  Everything is a free-will offering.  All funds raised will help produce videos of foster children to air on partnering television news stations.  Everyone is welcome to this event.
