OUR CHURCH ANNOUNCEMENTS

Morning Service ~ This morning, Mr. Edward Okiror, will lead us in worship. Pastor Okiro was born in Uganda and is a consultant for World Renew in Uganda providing training, advisory services and interventions. He is also a recent graduate of Timothy Leadership and now brings Timothy Leadership training into churches. Edward lives in Soroti with his three sons – David, Benjamin and Jesse. Welcome to Hamilton CRC.

Evening Worship Services for October will be held in our church. Tonight Rev. Adam Van Der Stoep will lead us in worship. Rev. Van Der Stoep has just recently joined the staff at Hamilton Reformed.

Faith Promise Mission Pledge Cards are available in your church mailbox. Our missionaries depend on financial support from churches and individuals. Consider this week your commitment for the next 12 months to our missionaries. The pledge cards will be collected next Sunday during the offering.

October 1, 2017

Mission Week ~ Today we begin our celebration of Missions and reminder of who are missionaries are and our support for each of them. This morning Mr. Edward Okiror will lead the worship service. On Wednesday, October 4 you are invited to the fellowship hall from 7 – 9 pm to meet Rev. Jonathan & Minet Fischer from New Hope Church in Bangor, Maine. Everyone is invited to come and give a HCRC welcome to the Fischer’s. Today you will receive you Faith Promise Mission Pledge Card. Next Sunday the pledge cards will be collected and we will renew our financial commitment to missions through our pledge. Our worship service next Sunday will be led by Rev. Sarah Farkas of Forgotten Man Missions.

Small Group Bible Study will meet on Tuesday, October 3 at 7 pm at Max & Jan’s house. Our lesson is “Praying Our Death” from Psalm 90.

Fellowship Night will be Wednesday, October 11. A supper will be from 5:30 – 6:30 pm. Cadets and Youth Group will meet at 6:30 pm. The DVD “Israel’s Mission” will be shown for others. A nursery will be provided.

Ladies Guild Bible Study will not meet this Tuesday, October 3. Our next meeting will be October 17.

Congregational Meeting will be held on Sunday, October 15 (date change) following the morning service. We will be voting on hiring Zena Walters as a part-time youth leader. A detail letter explaining this proposal is available at the Welcome Table. If you are unable to attend this meeting you can contact any elder for an absentee ballot.

Trunk-or-Treat ~ As an outreach to the community our church will be hosting Trunk-or-Treat on Tuesday, October 31 from 6 -8 pm in the church parking lot and fellowship hall. To make this possible we are in need of volunteers to organize the event and help out. You are welcome to decorate your vehicle and pass out candy, help with games and just give the kids a safe place to come. Also needed is donations of candy and snacks. If you have a corn-hole game, ladder game or know of other games to play, please let Zena Walters know. If you are willing to help in any way with this community event, please let Zena Walters know.

Life Chain 2017 ~ Join Right to Life of Holland Area at the National Life Chain on Sunday, October 1 from 2-3
pm beginning near 16th Street and Fairbanks in Holland. Life Chain is a pro-life, peaceful, prayerful, public witness on behalf of the unborn at risk of elective abortion. Signs to hold during the prayer vigil will be provided. This is a prayer vigil so we do ask for those who attend to be fairly silent or to speak quietly. Reformation ~ October 31, 2017 marks the 500th anniversary when well-known Martin Luther nailed a list
of ninety-five statements on the door of the church at Wittenberg, Germany. Celebrate the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation with Today devotional. Recapture the significance of the Reformation for your personal faith. The Today devotional for October is written by Rev. Kurt Selles and is available on the shelf in the fellowship hall.

Harvest Festival at Dunningville Reformed Church will be held on Saturday, October 7. A dinner of soups, BBQ sandwiches, hot dogs, pies and other desserts and beverages will be served from 5 – 6:30 pm. An auction will begin at 6:30 featuring crafts, handwork, baked goods, produce, woodwork and more. The evening will be held in the church fellowship hall. Everyone is welcome

New Catechism Course ~ Looking for a new catechism study for yourself or as a group. Check out The Big Question! The Big Question is a four-course study for teens or intergenerational groups on Heidelberg Catechism Q&A 1. This short, informal study combines faith formation practices with catechism exploration so that heart and head work together to grow faith. Published by Faith Formation Ministries under the Faith Alive imprint, The Big Question is the first new catechism related resource released by CRCNA in five years. Audio Scripture Ministries in Holland has helped missionaries and others give the Bible to thousands of people who cannot read one since 1967. To celebrate those 50 years of ministry, a banquet and program is planned for Friday, October 13 at the Haworth Conference Center (255 College Ave., Holland). Don’t Miss Out ~ Brian Free and Assurance are coming to the Christian Reformed Conference Grounds (12253 Lakeshore Drive, Grand Haven) on Saturday, October 7. We are so excited about this Dove Award winning group coming to the Grounds. The mission of Brian Free and Assurance is to lift up Jesus Christ through their music, see souls come to know the Lord as Savior and be an encouragement to Believers across the nation and abroad. They believe in helping others grow in their walk with the Lord by forming exhorting relationships with their fans and investing in them at concerts. Everything is done for the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ. Brian, Bill and Mike are passionate about their calling and they are unashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
