Love INC’s Basic Training will be held on Monday, November 18 and 17, 6 pm – 7:30 pm at the Love INC Community Room, (4621 – 135th Avenue). The material and class will be very beneficial for anyone serving in any kind of volunteer or leadership role at church to better develop their loving relationship type of skills.
Jail Ministry ~ Has God blessed you with a heart to reach people in jail? The Allegan County Jail and Forgotten Man Ministries has asked Love INC to increase their presence through the LIFE Skills Program. LIFE Skills’ classes are being taught in the Faith Pod. Male and Female volunteers willing to lead these classes are needed. Commitment is two hours once a week for 10 consecutive weeks. A Faith Pod consists of 12 inmates who are part of the reentry program: the same 12 inmates stay together, attend classes all day, every day of the week. Recidivism (measurement of inmates being rearrested within 3 years of release) among inmates without the Faith Pod is 67.8%, while recidivism of inmates who participated in Faith Pods is 27%. God’s blessing over proven efforts! Love INC will train you and provide the material. Call Jean Eding at 269.751.2533 or email at loveincje@frontier.com for more information.
Hungry for Christ is in need of Commerical Drivers (CDL) to pick up items during the week, 7 am – 3 pm. If you are interested in this volunteer position, contact Tracy Brower at 616.688.7420.
Celebrate Life Auction ~ Come and support Right to Life of Holland Area by bidding on over 300 great items on Wednesday, November 5, 10 am – 5 pm and Thursday, November 6, 9 am – 7 pm. You can bid on items by stopping at the Right to Life office (100 Waverly Road Holland) until 5 pm on each day or place your bid by calling 616.396.1037. The list of auction items can be seen online at www.rtlofholland.org or a printed copy is available at the Welcome Table.
Prayers ~ On Sunday, November 2 and 9 churches around the world are asked to pray for the Persecuted Church. The terrorism of ISIS and other extremist campaigns have targeted our brothers and sisters in Christ in Iraq, Syria and throughout the region. Other religious minorities and moderate Muslims have also been targets of the ongoing violence in the region. Join in prayer for those affected by the violence.
Fanning the Flame Praying Together for God’s Mission will be held on Friday, November 7 and Saturday, November 8 at Calvary Christian Reformed Church in Holland. This event is interdenominational designed for church members, students, leaders and pastors. See the information brochures at the Welcome Table.
World Hunger Sunday ~ “Taste and see that the Lord is good! How blessed is the one who takes shelter in him!” Psalm 34:8. Food is a great gift of God that has the ability to bring us together and give us and our families healthier, more joyful lives. Thank you for showing your love for others by remembering, learning from and acting to help those in need.
