Nominations ~ At the Council meeting of January 19, nominations for the office of Elder and Deacon will be made. If you would like Council to consider someone for this office of the church, please submit it in writing to any elder or deacon prior to the meeting of January 19.
Cookies ~ Our church has been asked to provide cookies for the Community Service on February 22 at Hamilton High School. If you would be willing to donate home-made or store-brought cookies please sign the sheet in the fellowship hall.
Newsletter ~ The February Observer articles are due next Sunday, January 25 and may be placed in the newsletter box in the narthex.
Chili Cook-Off and Bread Bake-off ~ Our church’s annual Chili Cook-off and Bread Bake-off will be held on Wednesday, January 28. Consider entering your best chili and /or bread to make this event a great success. Sign-up today in the fellowship hall. Also we will be needing everyone to help taste the variety of chili’s and breads that are being entered for the contest. Come and join us for this fun evening starting at 5:30 pm. Trophies will be presented at 6:45 pm.
Worship Planning ~ If you have ever wanted to be part of the team that picks songs, writes prayers and in general think you could add something to the Sunday morning worship service then this Wednesday, January 21 at 6 pm we are going to have a Worship Planning Meeting. Every month Pastor Jake will bring the sermon passages to the meeting and we will collaborate to put the services together.
Seminar Weekend with Rev. Ray Vander Laan will be held in our church on Friday, March 20 (7-8:30 pm), Saturday, March 21 (9 am – 4 pm) and Sunday, March 22 (9:30 am worship service). You must register to attend this weekend and registration is limited due to seating. Registration forms are available on the Welcome Table. This weekend is open to everyone – invite your friends. Together we will journey through the world of Jesus.
March for Life will be held on Monday, January 19 at 7 pm, starting at the corner of 10th and Central and ending at Central Avenue CRC in Holland. A Memorial Service of unborn children will be held at 7:20 pm at Central Avenue CRC. The memorial service will feature Ed Rivet, legislative director at Right to Life of Michigan. The events are free. Join us with Family and Friends! Donations will be accepted for Right of Life of Holland. January 22, 2015 marks the 42nd anniversary of the date of the infamous Roe vs. Wade and Doe vs. Bolton decisions which legalized the violence of abortion throughout our country during the entire nine months of a woman’s pregnancy. Since that date nearly 56 million pre-born lives have been destroyed.
Fundraiser ~ “Do It For Daniel” Fundraiser will be held on Monday, January 19, 5 -9 pm at the Pizza Ranch in Hudsonville. Daniel Olson, an all-state football player who suffered with depression and anxiety took his own life in 2012. His family along with Michael & Kammi Berens (son of Ken & Verna) are trying to educate and take the stigma away from mental illness. They are telling the story of a small town and how they rallied behind football to heal the entire community. Go to www.DoItForDaniel.com for more information. Dine Out on Tuesday, January 20 from 5 pm – 9 pm at Russ’ Eastown. Russ’ will donate 25% of your total bill to Right to Life of Holland Area. Coupons for this are available at the Welcome Table and by the church mailboxes.

Holland Classis ~ The Gathering, the Church at Benjamin’s Hope in Holland, has started in-home Bible studies. Pray for the Holy Spirit’s blessing on the groups as they meet together and pray that God will bless this new ministry of the Gathering in addition to their weekly worship services.
